Man critically injured in shooting at Westside apartment complex

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A man was critically injured in a shooting early Monday at an apartment complex on Jacksonville’s Westside, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office.

JSO Homicide Unit Sergeant Ray Reeves said the man, who is in his mid-20s, was found with gunshot wounds at the Westwood Apartments on Lane Avenue South.

Around 3:30 a.m., JSO officers responded to the apartment complex after receiving reports of a shooting.

When they arrived, officers found the man lying outside with gunshot wounds.

JFRD transported him to the hospital in critical condition, according to JSO.

The circumstances surrounding the shooting are still unknown.

“We are currently in the process of working on that investigation and all that comes with it. We have spoken with witnesses on the scene and are trying to come up with a timeline that will help us,” Reeves said.

No arrests have been made.
