1 dead in crash on 103rd St. near I-295

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – One man is dead after a deadly crash near I-295 on Saturday.

A 50-year-old Jacksonville man was killed in a crash at 103rd Street and the Interstate 295 northbound entrance ramp, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Troopers said the man was driving a sport utility vehicle westbound on 103rd Street around 3:35 a.m. when he ran a red light and slammed into another SUV that was eastbound and turning left onto the I-295 northbound ramp.

The man’s car rotated and overturned. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

He was not wearing a seatbelt.

The other driver was not injured.
