Police: 1 dead in double shooting outside Westside apartment complex

No description found

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – One person was killed and another was wounded in what's believed to be a double shooting Tuesday afternoon outside an apartment complex in the Oak Hill area of the Westside, the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office said.

Officers responded about 3:45 p.m. Tuesday to a person shot outside an apartment complex on Morse Avenue near Ridgeview Avenue, just east of Interstate 295. They said they found a male, who had been shot, in the parking lot of the complex. The male, whose age was not released, died at the scene.

Police said they were then called to a hospital, where a person with a gunshot wound was dropped off. Sgt. Doug Molina described that person as a male, but did not give his age or his condition. Molina said the male was being treated at the hospital.

Molina said detectives believe the two incidents are related.

The Sheriff's Office said it was too early to determine whether both males were shooting at each other and hit each other, or if both were shot by someone else.

There was no suspect information.

Homicide detectives continue to investigate. Anyone with information is asked to call the Sheriff's Office at 904-630-0500 or email JSOCrimeTips@jaxsheriff.org. To remain anonymous, contact Crime Stoppers at 1-866-845-TIPS (8477).
