JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The on-again, off-again status of Jacksonville's landmark Friendship Fountain finds the lights and pumps in the "off" position Thursday night.
City leaders shut things down about a week ago, saying the fountain isn't functioning properly.

News4Jax spoke Thursday with Tia Ford at the city. She said it seems like there's an electrical problem, or a plumbing problem, but technicians aren't entirely sure, so the city's getting an assessment done.
Some of the functions, like syncing the music with the fountain, just haven't been working properly. For now, the fountain is dry.
Major repair and renovations took place in 2010 and 2011. That was a more than $3 million project for the fountain and park.
More revisions came with the upgrades to the Southbank Riverwalk about a year ago.
Friendship Fountain first opened in 1965.
There is no word on when the city expects the assessment to be complete or when the fountain may be up and running once again.
