Kona Skatepark holds 'World's Largest Coloring Book Party'

Color Me Kona event formerly known as Jax Kids' Mural Festival

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The world’s largest coloring book party was held Saturday at Jacksonville’s Kona Skatepark in Arlington.

Formerly known as the Jax Kids' Mural Festival, the Color Me Kona: The World’s Largest Coloring Book Party is a partnership between the Jax Kids' Mural Project and Kona Skatepark.

The event was free and attendees participated in interactive mural painting, a tie-dye factory, sidewalk-chalk take over, art installations and creative "Make-and-Take" workshops. There was also food, coffee, skateboarding contests, demonstrations and skateboarding clinics provided by Instaramp.

The SPARK grant project provided by The Cultural Council of Greater Jacksonville and Florida Blue in 2016, the Jax Kids' Mural Festival, was held four separate times last year in the Jacksonville’s Urban Core.

Hosted by both the Jacksonville Landing and Hemming Park, the festival featured six freestanding walls with coloring-book-style murals painted on them by Jacksonville artist Nicole Holderbaum aka Nico, and other artists from across the state that were then filled or painted in by attending children.
