Police search for gunman in late Friday afternoon homicide on Hubbard Street

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Police are searching for a suspect after he shot and killed a man late Friday afternoon on Hubbard Street, not far from Kirby Smith Middle School.

Homicide investigators with the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office said the suspect and victim met up in the street for some reason and the suspect pulled a gun and fired.

Police said the victim was shot in the chest and died at the hospital. 

There was one witness to the shooting who gave a description of the gunman as a white man with brownish-blond hair in his mid 30s. He was roughly 6 feet tall and weighed 180 pounds. At the time of the shooting, he was wearing a blue T-shirt and blue jeans.

School was out for the day when the shooting occurred.
