JACKSONVILLE BEACH, Fla. – Are you a single mother struggling to provide for your kids because the job you have doesn’t pay you enough to cover the cost of childcare? You are not alone.
80% of the single parents in the United States are mothers. 35% of them make a smaller income than a single father.
And far too many live below the poverty level.
But there is a local program offered through BEAM Beaches Emergency Assistance Ministry that is helping these moms change their futures.
And maybe it could help you too.
News4JAX sat down with one of its case managers Valarie Johnson who explained how the program works and who qualifies.
News4JAX also interviewed a local mother who entered the program two years ago. She has a fantastic perspective about how it helped her and the change it’s meant in her life and her 4-year-old daughter’s life.
