Path to the Polls: Why are young voters so against a Trump-Biden rematch and what’s the alternative?

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – There is a lot of discontent among young voters in the race for the White House.

(Press play above to watch this week’s “Vote 2024: Path to the Polls” episode On Demand.)

Here’s the bottom line: They don’t want a rematch between President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump.

Ask them why, and they’re pretty candid.

They don’t like Biden’s handling of the economy. They don’t like his support of Israel’s military campaign in Gaza and they think he’s too old.

As for Trump -- they think he is too extreme and divisive. Young people are against the Republican agenda pushing abortion bans and book bans, and they don’t feel like they are being heard.

It’s that simple!

So, what’s their alternative? That was the focus of our discussion on Tuesday’s live-streaming episode of “Vote 2024: Path to the Polls.”

FSCJ political science professor Daniel Cronrath joined me along with two political science students who don’t believe political candidates listen to or “get them.”
