Path to the Polls: How far will the Supreme Court go when it comes to laws regulating social media?

One headline put it this way: “The Supreme Court is in the middle of the social media and free speech intersection.”

It’s a wrestling match between the courts and policymakers.

At issue is the power of social media and its ability to influence everything from medical decisions to politics -- even the outcome of a presidential election.

Florida and Texas are in the middle of this fight as the High Court looks at laws passed by both the Sunshine and Lone Star states that were designed to stop media giants from suppressing conservative views. The challenge is coming from a company arguing that First Amendment rights are being violated.

Yes, there’s disinformation and misinformation, but how far will the Supreme Court go in regulating things and at what cost to our freedoms?

That’s the focus of this week’s “Path to the Polls.”
