Path to the Polls: Young voter helps break down issues Millennial and Gen Z voters are focused on

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Young people today are clearly concerned about the nation’s direction. If you listen to the voices of 18- to 29-year-olds echoing across the country, they worry about the economy, foreign policy, immigration and climate change.

And they appear motivated to facilitate change and ready to have their voices heard.

A national poll released by the Institute of Politics at Harvard Kennedy School indicates that among that age group, 18- to 29-year-olds, more than half say they will definitely vote in the upcoming presidential election.

Talk with them and you’ll find that these young voters are focused more on the issues than on the candidates.

Since the last presidential election, 16 million Americans have reached voting age for the first time. Some political analysts believe Millennial and Gen Z voters will bring a lot of “sway” to November.

On this week’s streaming episode of “Path to the Polls,” I discussed these issues and more with political analyst Daniel Cronrath and Leah Ferrell, a local student who is among that young voter demographic.
