Path to the Polls: Hunter Biden case answers Trump critics concerning fairness of America’s justice system

Hunter Biden was convicted Tuesday of three felony counts in his federal gun trial. Regardless of the outcome, the case shows that the judicial system in America isn’t rigged -- a claim made, without substantial evidence, by many, especially on the right.

After Donald Trump was tried and found guilty of 34 felony counts, there was rage across America about a “two-tiered justice system” and a “deep-state conspiracy” against the former president.

In fact, Trump falsely blamed the Biden administration for orchestrating the New York criminal trial against him, saying “This is all done by Biden and his people.” The fact is Biden and his administration had no control over the prosecution.

All that said, there is no doubt that without argument, covering a president’s son going on trial on felony charges deserves the same level of coverage and discussion as did the Trump trial. And that’s why it was on our radar for “Path to the Polls.”

Also this week, we discussed the comments from Trump who, when talking about his guilty verdict with several conservative news outlets, said his opponents were going down a “terrible path” and alluded to the idea of “imprisoning his political opponents,” if he becomes president again. His targets? President Joe Biden and Hillary Clinton? He leaves little room for doubt.

Then there are moves being made by Biden on the immigration issue. His new tough executive action is not sitting well with progressives in the party. And it is prompting loud dissent. The fact is, it’s one of Biden’s biggest weaknesses on one of Trump’s biggest campaign issues. Is it a risk he has to take? Does he have an option or does it leave him on dicey ground with liberal Dems and at what cost?
