OCALA, Fla. – An Ocala teen died Monday after cliff diving in an inactive lime rock quarry, according to Marion County Sheriff’s Office.

Detectives are investigating the death of 17-year-old Trey Austin Dagwan Cardoza, who police said dove into an inactive rock quarry at the 6400th block of NW Gainesville Road. On May 27, an 18-year-old man drowned in a quarry near Hard Rock Cycle Park. Police said that hours before Cardoza died, 13 people were arrested for trespassing in another rock quarry.

Marion County Sheriff's Office said that swimming and cliff diving is extremely dangerous and they will be actively patrolling and enforcing state law at those locations.

“The men and women of the MCSO will do everything in their power to prevent further loss of life as a result of these preventable accidents,” MCSO said in a statement.
