ST. JOHNS COUNTY, Fla. – We have an update on some squeaky-clean nuptials that have gotten a lot of attention!
On Dec. 3, one of our News4JAX co-workers, Bruce Melvin, married his sweetheart Ingrid of more than five years in a car wash. You read that correctly, a car wash!
They said “I do” at the Gate Express car wash in Nocatee — a place they frequent and chose because it was non-traditional and a whole lot cheaper than a typical wedding.

The video of the wedding went viral, catching the attention of Gate Petroleum in Jacksonville! The company reached out and wanted to throw a party for the happy couple.
Not only did they have a cake and a celebration, they presented them with free car washes for a year, and a honeymoon at the Ponte Vedra Inn & Club! (continue reading below)
“I wanted to congratulate you all — thank you for selecting the car wash, and we would like to offer both your vehicles one free year with shield protection,” a representative of Gate said.
For some background, Bruce said Ingrid gets her car washed almost daily, so it’s an important place for her. The two even met speed dating five-and-a-half years ago.
Congratulations to the Melvins!
