JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – More than two dozen children are heading to their forever homes just in time for Halloween.
The Family Support Services’ Home for Halloween adoption finalization event happened Wednesday and was more magical than usual with the FSS department attending the adoptions in costumes.

Over the past 20 years, Family Support Services has helped more than 6,000 children in the First Coast foster care system find stability through adoption.
Two of the 25 children are 11-year-old Eleni and her 12-year-old brother Nikolas Xynides, who were adopted by their grandmother who shares her granddaughter’s name.
By raising her grandchildren since birth, Eleni Xynides fully understands the saying “It takes a village.”
With support from her community and sister, both of her grandchildren have flourished socially and in their education.
FSS provided new families like the Xynides with treat bags for their special day. In addition to the festivities, the fourth floor was turned into a trick-or-treat treasure trove with plenty of candy, games and more.
The 25 children joining their forever families were all encouraged to dress up in bright colors for what was the agency’s largest Home for Halloween event to date.
