Jacksonville food truck spreads love with free meals before Thanksgiving

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A day before Thanksgiving, a Jacksonville food truck handed out free meals to support the Northside community.

Many came out to receive the love that the Souse Sistas Food Truck poured out on Wednesday.

“I just wanted to give back because Thanksgiving is a time to give so I just wanted to, everybody get a chance to be a part of Souse Sistas to see how good it is,” Jamoca Brookins owner of Souse Sistas.

Brookins said this is her first year in business and many people have been there to support her through the journey.

The free meal included chicken and oxtail tacos, plus the food truck’s signature souse.

“It’s really a down-south dish and I just put my little own flare to it,” Brookins said. “I added extra stuff to it because it’s really a pork pot. But I don’t cook with pork; I cook with beef.”

This tradition was just getting started for Brookins' business.

“I’ve been blessed, and I want to give back so people can be happy this Thanksgiving. They’ve got something to look forward to, and just showing people love,” she said.

Brookins also plans to give back to the community at Christmas as well.
