News4JAX donates books to local preschool on National Donate a Book Day

It fills our hearts to support a love of reading and lifelong learning

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Monday, April 14, marked National Donate a Book Day, a day dedicated to promoting book donations to libraries and schools to enhance literacy initiatives.

In celebration of this day, News4JAX employees, as part of its 4 Culture initiative, organized a book drive, collecting books to donate to Around the Clock Kid Care and Preschool on Jacksonville’s Westside.

The importance of books in early childhood education cannot be overstated. The director of Around the Clock Kid Care and Preschool emphasized this point during a recent conversation.

“Books are very important. They build up their learning skills and verbal skills,” she said. “It’s very essential in the school because we read at least three times a day. So it’s very, very important.”

Around the Clock Kid Care and Preschool provides child care 24 hours a day and offers programs designed to help children develop essential skills for kindergarten. They also offer full-time preschool, part-time care, free VPK (Voluntary Pre-Kindergarten), late-night & date-night care, tutoring services, drop-in care, transportation services, educational summer camp and more.
