There is a quirky December holiday (Dec 8) called “Take it in the Ear” , which focuses on the value of listening.

Active listening is a skill that is particularly useful in a conflict or disagreement, especially when our natural instinct is to talk more to defend our position.

They are three 3Rs to practice active listening

1. Repeat-Listen with your palms facing up as it communicates trustworthiness

2. Reflect-Avoid using WHY questions as this can come across as accusation
