Gullah Geechee Community shares history lessons

Jacksonville Gullah Geechee Nation CDC is committed to the education, development and preservation of the GULLAH GEECHEE CULTURAL HERITAGE within the City of Jacksonville, Florida and county of Duval. The corporation was developed to guide a sagacious citizenry. By developing a concise delivery of African American History relating to Culture and Heritage through a series of material we have reached our preliminary goal. The continuation of their delivery will move into the Civil Rights Era.

They have developed material which allows visual tours, oral history, festivals, exhibits, conferences, health fairs, youth camps and forums. The identification of a list of sites within the boundaries of GULLAH GEECHEE territory that were important during the Civil Rights Era is a part of our continual goals.

Their goals encompass education, preservation and development for a large aggregate of people. All of whom are united by common descent, history, culture, and language, inhabiting a stretch 30 Miles inland from the Atlantic Ocean in Florida. They are domiciled in Duval, Nassau and St. Johns counties as recognized by the Gullah Geechee Cultural Heritage Act of 2006. The corridor is home to approximately 3,200,000 descendants of the TransAtlantic SLAVE Trade. www.gullahgeecheeglobal.com
