Mother daughter team advocate for entrepreneurship and STEAM through creative storytelling

Driven by a passion for literacy and science, a local team has found an innovative way to merge these two fields by integrating the science experiments they conducted over the summer into their creative writing projects. Through their writing, they have been able to attend events, visit schools, and participate in conferences, using their stories as a platform to inspire and educate.

The team believes that writing is a powerful tool for empowerment, particularly for children, and they are committed to helping young readers reshape their narratives. Their books are designed to allow readers to see themselves in a positive light, encouraging them to engage with STEM activities and fostering a love for learning.

Looking ahead to 2024, the team plans to release more STEM-focused books and increase their school visits, continuing their advocacy for literacy and STEM education.

Silvana Spence, originally from Brazil, is the driving force behind this initiative. Now residing in Jacksonville, Florida, with her two daughters, she balances her roles as an author, mother, wife, and educator. Her daughters, Victoria and Isabella, play key roles in their literary endeavors, with Victoria featured as a character in their stories and Isabella serving as the co-author of Bella the Scientist Goes to Outer Space. Together, they have formed the STEAM SQUAD LLC, a venture dedicated to promoting STEM through engaging and inclusive storytelling.
