Blue Jay Listening Room, Jacksonville’s award winning music venue is celebrating their 7th year. When the beloved Freebird Live closed, Cara Murphy saw a need for a music venue in her beaches community that was solely focused on the artist. “There was nowhere for artists and bands to play besides bars and restaurants. If you couldn’t book one of the bigger venues, you were forced to play to a bunch of drunk people who wanted to hear covers. So, I wanted a space that was the opposite of that.” In 2017, Cara opened Blue Jay Listening Room and since then, it has become a staple in the Jax music community, encouraging both local and national bands and artists to come and play their original music for a crowd of people who are there to actually LISTEN.
