Can’t-miss upgrades and how you can help with holiday prep at the Jacksonville Arboretum

Volunteers are already prepping for Dazzling Lights holiday display

The Jacksonville Arboretum has been getting some upgrades lately.

A large group of volunteers were out Wednesday planting plants to add to the native pollinator garden, and the arboretum has added a new pavilion and a water fountain.

A children’s area is also in the design process.

“We’ve been very busy out here,” executive director Dana Doody said.

And the arboretum “elves” are already hard at work to prep for this year’s holiday display. Yes, it’s still August, but it’s never too early!

Events manager Caitlyn Bliss said their small team of six relies on volunteers to help get the work done.

The theme for the incredibly popular Dazzling Lights display this year is “Glowing Gardens.”

The holiday light display entices the community to come out and experience nature with a different perspective.
