Pawsing For Pets: Help Roxanne find her furever home!

Roxanne is a 10-year-old Basenji mix with a touch of spice and a heart full of love.

She’s affectionate with people, polite on a leash, and gets along well with other dogs, though she’s not afraid to let them know her boundaries.

Roxanne’s story is special. She came to Nassau Humane Society as a stray in 2015 and was adopted shortly after her arrival.

Unfortunately, due to changes in her owner’s housing situation, she was recently surrendered back to us. Since she has been back, Roxanne has charmed everyone she’s met—even attending a city council meeting!

We believe she would make a wonderful family dog for the right home.

The Nassau Humane Society is committed to promoting the humane treatment of all animals. Their mission is to alleviate suffering and neglect among animals, while also fostering the human-animal bond. They strive to create an environment where people respect all living creatures.

In pursuit of their mission, the Nassau Humane Society tackles the most pressing animal welfare issues in their community, particularly animal overpopulation and homelessness. Their approach prioritizes solutions that benefit both pets and people.

The society offers rescue and control services as a lifeline for animals in distress and to ensure the safety of the community. They actively promote pet adoption, animal-assisted therapy, pet care education, outreach spay and neuter programs, and other initiatives to support animal welfare.

To further their cause, individuals can contribute by volunteering their time, becoming a foster caregiver, or making monetary donations.

If you would like to help us further our mission, consider volunteering your time, becoming a foster, or making a monetary donation.
