Thomas, Commanders charge past Orange Park

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Senior Taylor Thomas scored three touchdowns for Ed White as the Commanders cruised to a 40-7 victory over visiting Orange Park in district action Friday night.

Thomas finished with more than 200 yards rushing, including two touchdowns, and also caught a pass for a TD.

"We got a lot of weapons. We gotta be more consistent," Commanders coach Paul Pierson said. "We got to execute more up front on the O-line (and avoid) simple mistakes like holding and execution wise."

Thomas' first score came on a 29-yard pass from senior quarterback Trevor Seigler. He sidestepped his way across the goal line to give Ed White a 20-0 lead in the second quarter.

Thomas scored again on an 84-yard rush in the third quarter to make it 26-0 and helped ice the victory with a 40-yard TD run.

Junior Javonte Ferguson scored twice in the first quarter for Ed White in the runaway victory. He caught a 29-yard TD pass from Seigler to open the scoring and scored again on a 29-yard sweep.

Senior Tre Mincey scored the only touchdown for Orange Park on a 1-yard run in the second half.
