JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – In front of hundreds of family, friends and fans, former Bolles great Rick Wilkins was honored by having his number retired on Friday.
"It's a real privilege and honor" Wilkins said, "It's humbling to think of all the great athletes who have come through here during the 80 plus years this institution has been here."

Wilkins won two district championships and went to two state final fours with the Bulldogs in 1984 and 1985. Drafted by the Cubs in 1986, Wilkins went on to play 11 MLB seasons.
That was something that Wilkins was not thinking about during his years at Bolles.
"Really you aspire to be good enough to maybe go to college and maybe get an education out of it. But to aspire to something greater than that requires breaks along the way, so to be honored today is very special."
Wilkins joins former coach Don Suriano and MLB All-Star Chipper Jones as former Bulldogs who have had their numbers retired.
