(LAKANA) – American swimmer Chase Kalisz won silver in the men's 400-meter individual medley Saturday night at the Rio Olympics.
Kalisz, a 22-year-old Maryland native competing in his first Olympics, finished with a time of 04:06.75.
Kosuke Hagino of Japan won gold with a time of 04:06.05 while Daiya Seto of Japan won bronze with a time of 04:09.71.
The University of Georgia student is the current American record-holder in the event. He won bronze in the event at the 2015 FINA World Championships and silver at the 2013 worlds.
