JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Could Urban Meyer be the next head coach of the Jaguars?
According to the NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, the Jaguars have shown interest in Meyer, the former Ohio State and Florida coach who is currently a TV analyst.

Rapoport’s report cited sources that said Meyer had been honing in on a staff and telling those he’s close with that he could wind up with the Jaguars.
The #Jaguars have held off making a firm and final decision on coach Doug Marrone, but sources say they will likely move on from him. Expect Urban Meyer to be a top target. My story: https://t.co/1q6jeVgXJY

That would mean the end of coach Doug Marrone’s tenure in Jacksonville, although that is expected at the end of the season. The Jaguars are 1-14 and have lost a franchise-record 14 straight games entering Sunday’s regular season finale at the Colts.
The Jaguars are arguably the most attractive job on the market entering 2021. Jacksonville already fired general manager Dave Caldwell and has secured the No. 1 overall pick in next spring’s NFL draft. They are widely expected to select Clemson quarterback Trevor Lawrence if he declares for the draft.
If Marrone is fired and Meyer stays in the TV booth, Rapoport said that Jacksonville could have interest in current Ohio State head coach Ryan Day. The Buckeyes face Alabama on Monday night in the national championship game.
