JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Jaguars ended their lengthy search for a head coach when they announced the hiring of Doug Pederson late Thursday night.
They’d been without a permanent head coach since firing Urban Meyer early in the morning of Dec. 16.
So, while many fans on social media said that they wanted Byron Leftwich, what has been the reaction on Pederson?
The most important one comes from quarterback Trevor Lawrence.
Let’s get to work💪🏼 - Welcome to #DUUUVAL ! Great days ahead. https://t.co/1Mburp2ZCp

Bucky Brooks, former NFL player and current analyst.
Doug Pederson is the perfect coach for the @Jaguars at this time.

1. Credibility (1x Super Bowl winner)
2. Proven QB developer (adaptable and flexible w/QB; SEE work for Wentz, Foles & Hurts)
3. A+ communicator/relationship builder (Needs to repair trust w/players & coaches) https://t.co/S7bHu4oeeg
Kevin Clark, writer/podcaster with The Ringer and Spotify.
Having said all that: Doug Pederson winning a Super Bowl with a backup QB against the best coach and quarterback of all time is one of the best coaching jobs in the modern era of football and I am hoping he saves Trevor Lawrence's career and gives Jags fans some good times.

Armando Salguero, former Miami Herald writer, current writer for Outkick.
The #jaguars get clowned a lot and I get it, lotta unforced errors. But unless Doug Pederson is in jail right now and no one knows it, this hiring is really smart by them.

Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.
Pederson can help Lawrence. He also has major work to do in that locker room after Urban Meyer mess. RT @AdamSchefter: Former Eagles’ HC Doug Pederson is being hired as the next head coach of the Jacksonville Jaguars, source tells ESPN.

Pete Prisco, former Jaguars beat writer and current NFL writer for CBS Sports.
Doug Pederson will be good for Trevor Lawrence. That’s the most important thing.

And Jacksonville Mayor Lenny Curry is (not surprisingly) “all in.”
Doug Pederson was interviewed 1st. Before anyone. Good hiring takes time. All this noise about @Jaguars dysfunction has been social media nonsense. It is garbage. Go @Jaguars . I am ALL in.
