First four

(4) Creekside (4-1, 0-1) at Oakleaf (3-2, 1-0), Thursday*

A major District 3-4S showdown, especially for Creekside. With one district loss already to frontrunner Gainesville Buchholz, another would likely put Creekside in position to have to qualify as an at-large team to the playoffs. Oakleaf already has a district win over Fleming Island and would take a big step forward with a win here. RB Nick Williams (596 rushing yards, 10 TDs) has been a wrecking ball but he’s been held without a rushing score the last two games. The two-QB system of Wilson Edwards (8 passing TDs) and Sean Ashenfelder (3 rushing TDs, 2 passing TDs) has worked for Creekside. RB Devin Outlaw (479 rushing yards, 8 TDs), QB Drew Ammon (6 passing TDs, 2 rushing TDs) and the versatile Taylor Bradshaw (88.8 all-purpose yards per game, 3 TDs) power Oakleaf.

(10) Fleming Island (3-1, 0-1) at (2) Bartram Trail (5-0, 0-0)*

Another massive District 3-4S showdown. Fleming is in a situation like Creekside above. The Golden Eagles can’t afford another district loss and still feel comfortable about reaching the playoffs. RB Sam Singleton (411 rushing yards, 5 TDs) and QB Cibastian Broughton (289 rushing yards, 4 TDs, 580 passing yards, 7 TDs) give Fleming a powerful duo to attack the Bears with. Bartram RB Laython Biddle (563 rushing yards, 10 TDs) has emerged as the No. 1 scoring option for Bartram. QB Riley Trujillio (656 passing yards, 4 TDs, 313 rushing yards, 3 TDs) continues his progress. Both of these programs have defenses capable of turning in shutdown performances. We’ve seen it from both of them this year. This game is a segue into a wicked tough second half for both teams. Fleming has Mandarin, Creekside and Buchholz over the next three weeks; Bartram gets Creekside, Buchholz and Oakleaf in that same span.

Fletcher (4-2) at (5) White (4-1), 6:30 p.m.

Both teams have settled into a rhythm. The Senators surged back to win their district opener over Parker on Monday, their third consecutive win. The Commanders have lost just once, a 48-40 shootout to No. 1 Trinity Christian in Week 1. QB Marcelis Tate (1,112 passing yards, 7 TDs, 319 rushing yards, 3 TDs), RB Keandre Harold (286 rushing yards, 6 TDs) and WR Anthony Vaglienti (503 rushing yards, 5 TDs) have become the headliners for the Senators. DE Matteo Davis (49 tackles, 10 TFL, 9 sacks) is a problem for opposing offenses to try and slow. The Commanders have so many weapons to choose from in their attack that it makes scheming for them a challenge. RBs Tavales Thomas (447 rushing yards, 5 TDs) and Benny Lewis (337 rushing yards, TD) are tough. The versatile Davaughn Patterson (361 rushing yards, 6 TDs) may be even a bigger problem for teams on defense. LB Lawrence Neloms (53 tackles, 7 TFL) and S/LB Jamari Allen (50 tackles, 11 TFL) headline a stout Commanders defense.

Yulee (3-1, 0-0) at Baldwin (4-1, 2-0), 6:30 p.m.*

The Indians are all but assured of the District 5-2S title if they win this game. They’ve already dusted district favorite Baker County, with their lone loss to unbeaten Bradford. QB Jalen Hitchens (349 rushing yards, 4 TDs) has led a steady offense. But it’s the defense that’s leading Baldwin. LB Leon Kirkland has five of Baldwin’s 13 interceptions, followed by LB Octavius Barnes with three picks and 38 tackles. Yulee is nasty tough on defense, too, giving up just 12 ppg. LB Amauri Goff has a team-best 33 tackles and three sacks. QB Chris Turner has 10 TD passes, four apiece to Zackary Drawdy and Josiah Evans.

Next four

Episcopal (4-1) at Englewood (3-2), 6:30 p.m.: Two teams coming off big Monday night losses get a shot to even their record up this week.

Ponte Vedra (2-3) at (9) Bishop Kenny (6-0): The Crusaders are in line for a 2-0 week. The Sharks are coming off a walk-off field goal loss to Flagler Palm Coast.

Sandalwood (2-3) at Parker (1-5), 6:30 p.m.: The Saints lit Nease up for 51 points on Tuesday night, while the Braves typically have a defense that tough to move the ball on.

(1) Trinity Christian (5-0) at Riverside (2-4), 6:30 p.m.: This is typically a must-see showdown but the Generals are rebuilding. The Conquerors get a first-hand look at the area’s newest all-turf football field.
