JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Jaguars’ defense took a hit on Wednesday afternoon when the team placed cornerback Shaquill Griffin on injured reserve with a back injury.
Griffin suffered the injury in a loss to the Colts in Week 6 and didn’t play in last week’s loss to the Giants. Griffin will miss at least four games with his move to the injury list. The Jaguars (2-5) are heading to London to face the Broncos (2-5) on Sunday. That game will be televised by WJXT Channel 4 at 9:30 a.m.

Griffin was signed by the Jaguars as a high-priced free agent in 2021 and had an average season on the league’s worst team. He had 49 total tackles and seven passes defended. This year, Griffin has had a better statistical season (29 tackles, 4 PD in 5 games) but turned in the worst performance of his Jaguars career in the 34-27 loss to the Colts.
Griffin was called for two pass interference penalties and got beat on a 32-yard game-winning touchdown by rookie Alec Pierce with 17 seconds left.
Griffin joins offensive guard Ben Bartch, defensive end Jordan Smith and linebacker K’Lavon Chaisson are both on IR. Bartch and Smith are out for the rest of the season with knee injuries.
