1. (1) Providence (9-0, Class 3A)

Notable wins: Episcopal, IMG Academy Blue (twice), Oakleaf, Nease, Riverside, Sandalwood.

Glance: Another week and another couple of victories for the Stallions as they head into the Super 6 break with a chokehold on the No. 1 position. Providence handled The Villages Charter (65-23) and then beat IMG Academy’s Blue team for the second time this season (59-53), the latest coming in the prestigious City of Palms tournament.

2. (5) Ponte Vedra (8-1, Class 6A)

Notable wins: Bolles, Nease, Paxon, Poinciana, Tocoi Creek.

Glance: The big jump of the week. The Sharks went 2-0 since our last Super 6, a 48-44 win over rival Nease in an instant classic, and a 76-32 rout of Bishop Snyder. Israel Nuhu (14.8 ppg), Ben Ritchie (14.1 ppg) and Nathan Bunkosky (10.3 ppg) have been averaging double figures in scoring all season. Sam Ritchie (9.8 ppg) is just a tick below that this week. The Sharks are back in action on Dec. 28 (an 8-3 King’s Ridge Christian, Ga.) and Dec. 29 (a 9-2 Savannah Johnson). Ponte Vedra’s lone loss is to Tampa Catholic. lished

3. (3) Impact Christian (9-2, Class 2A)

Notable wins: Episcopal, Fleming Island, Orange Park, Riverside, Seacoast Christian, Stranahan.

Glance: A 3-1 mark for the Lions since our last Super 6. Impact notched wins over Riverside (67-41), Christian Brothers Academy (60-42) and Stranahan (76-46), and it lost to South Gwinnett (54-48), the latter two of those games at the prestigious Kreul Classic. They’ll get a break until returning to action Jan. 2 against University Christian. Jordan Mikell (11.7 ppg), Taylor Thompson (11.7 ppg) and Isaac Edwards (10.7 ppg) lead the Lions in scoring. Impact’s two losses have come to larger programs who are a combined 18-3.

4. (2) North Florida Educational (7-3, Class 2A)

Notable wins: DME Academy, Potter’s House, Riverside, Tampa Catholic,

Glance: Just one game since our last Super 6, an 80-58 loss to Florida High. They’re off until facing St. Petersburg Gibbs on Dec. 27, the first of a three-game tournament stretch to close out 2022.

5. (T6) Ribault (8-1, Class 4A)

Notable wins: Jackson, Mandarin, White.

Glance: The Trojans stretched their winning streak to seven games, going 3-0 since our last update. Ribault beat Fletcher (67-50), Raines (65-41) and Golden Gate (62-50). They’ve got a big showdown against Bolles (6-1) on Wednesday. That will be Ribault’s toughest opponent since Jackson on Dec. 13. Caleb Williams (13.8 ppg), Kevin Stokes (10.4 ppg) and George Woods (10 ppg) are all averaging double figures in scoring for the Trojans.

T6. (NR) Oakleaf (8-1, Class 6A)

Notable wins: Camden County, Sandalwood, Westside.

Glance: I don’t like having ties in the Super 6, but that’s what it has called for the last two weeks. And these two in at No. 6 this week are equally deserving. The Knights move in to the Super 6 after a solid start to the season. Their most impressive game was actually a 58-53 OT loss to No. 1 Providence in the Fortegra semifinals, the closest the Stallions have come to losing. Oakleaf returns to action for tournament play Dec. 28-30. A good start for the Knights and coach Jason Price.

T6. (NR) Paxon (9-1, Class 4A)

Notable wins: Beachside, Bishop Kenny, Lovejoy, St. Augustine, Wolfson

Glance: The longest win streak in the area is nine games by both No. 1 Providence and also Paxon. The Golden Eagles haven’t lost since a tough season opener against No. 2 Ponte Vedra (75-61). They’ve got Bradford on Wednesday to wrap up their pre-Christmas slate.
