1. (1) Trinity Christian (15-3, Class 3A)
Notable wins: Bishop Snyder, Clay, Creekside, Mandarin, Mountain Brook (Ala.), Nease, Providence, Stanton, Viera.
Glance: The Conquerors remain on a roll. Since our last Super 6, Trinity has beaten Nease (10-0) and Episcopal (12-1). They’ve got Bartram Trail up next on Friday night, followed by Ponte Vedra on Saturday and No. 2 St. Johns Country Day on Monday.
2. (2) St. Johns Country Day (15-3, Class 2A)
Notable wins: Bartram Trail, Bolles, Calvary Day (Ga.), Clay, Fleming Island, LaGrange (Ga.), Lowndes (Ga.), Mandarin, Mosley, Providence, Yulee.
Glance: The Spartans had one game since our last Super 6, a 6-0 win over Mandarin. St. Johns is riding a scoreless streak of 21 straight innings entering Friday night’s showdown against No. 3 Providence. Then, it’s a trip to No. 1 Trinity Christian on Monday.
3. (3) Providence (14-4, Class 3A)
Notable wins: Bolles, Cullman (Ala.), Dunnellon, Englewood, Fleming Island, North Marion, Nease, Parkview (Ga.), Ponte Vedra, Sandy Creek (Ga.), Wolfson.
Glance: A 2-1 week for the Stallions. They beat Bishop Snyder (5-2) and Englewood (6-3), then lost to a good, but struggling Bartram Trail (6-3). Next up, it’s Bolles (Tuesday) and Gainesville Buchholz (Thursday). Andrew Johnson (.400, 11 RBI) and Brett Dennis (.360, 14 RBI) lead the Stallions at the plate. Dennis is also the team’s ace on the bump.
4. (5) Fernandina Beach (15-3, Class 3A)
Notable wins: Baker County, Bolles, First Coast, Hilliard, Lincoln, Oakleaf, Sandalwood, Trinity Catholic.
Glance: The Pirates have won 13 consecutive games, currently the longest streak in the area. That includes wins over West Nassau (10-1) and Bolles (6-3) since our last Super 6. Xavier Hutton-Corp (.444), Wes Parsons (.429) and Caden Hartman (.415, 15 RBI) lead the Pirates at the plate.
5. (4) Columbia (17-3, Class 5A)
Notable wins: Appling County (Ga.), Buchholz (twice), North Florida Christian (twice), Santa Fe (twice), Stockbridge (Ga.), Valdosta (Ga.).
Glance: The Tigers saw their 10-game winning streak come to an end with an 8-5 loss to Chiles. Not a particularly goods loss to a team under .500, but Columbia does have an early win over the Timberwolves. The Tigers also beat NFC and a very good Buchholz since our last Super 6. They’ve got Gainesville up next on Friday night. Ayden Phillips (.489, 18 RBI) and Hayden Gustavson lead the Tigers at the plate. Camdon Frier has four homers.
6. (T6) Clay (16-4, Class 5A)
Notable wins: Arnold, Baker County, Creekside, Irwin County (Ga.), Fleming Island, Keystone Heights, Oakleaf, Ponte Vedra, Santa Fe, Tocoi Creek.
Glance: A 2-0 mark since our last Super 6 for the Blue Devils. They beat Creekside (4-2) and Santa Fe (6-1). They’ve got a tough Ridgeview up next on Friday. Collin Briggs (.421) and Cole Carnell (.377) lead Clay at the plate. and
