Rank, Previous, School (Record, classification)

1. (1) St. Augustine (7-0, Class 3S)

Last week: d. Gainesville, 56-0.

This week: at Clay (4-4).

Notable: The Yellow Jackets are cruising. They can win the District 4-3S title outright against a suddenly struggling Clay team before facing rival Palatka in search of an unbeaten regular season next week.

2. (2) Bradford (8-0, Class 2S)

Last week: d. Lecanto, 42-0.

This week: vs. Palatka (7-1), 7:30 p.m.

Notable: The District 6-2S title is on the line against the Panthers. Can Bradford finish the season strong and unbeaten? They’ve got a difficult test against Suwannee after this, but they’re in position to land the No. 1 seed in Region 2-2S.

3. (4) Ponte Vedra (7-1, Class 4S)

Last week: d. Orange Park, 35-0.

This week: vs. Nease (5-3).

Notable: The Sharks have won seven straight and can win the District 4-4S title this week against rival Nease in our Football Friday Game of the Week. The Sharks are 12-2 all-time against their rival, but just 1-1 in the last two meetings, both razor-thin meetings.

4. (5) Mandarin (6-2 Class 4M)

Last week: Off.

This week: at Sandalwood (0-8), 6:30 p.m.

Notable: Can the Mustangs polish off an eight-win season? They have a shot to keep Sandalwood’s forgettable season going for another week. A win against the Saints would wrap up the District 1-4M title.

5. (6) Raines (7-1, Class 2M)

Last week: d. Atlantic Coast, 29-22.

This week: at Jackson (3-5), Thursday, 6:30 p.m.

Notable: The Vikings escaped the upset-minded Stingrays last week. They need to keep up the pressure that they showed against Ribault in the Northwest Classic and not allow Jackson an opportunity to sneak out a district title on Thursday night.

6. (3) Bartram Trail (4-4, Class 4S)

Last week: lost to Gainesville Buchholz, 44-7.

This week: vs. Oakleaf (2-5).

Notable: The Bears absorbed their worst loss since 2009 last week and won’t win the District 3-4S title. They’re still in the playoff mix and have lost all four games to teams who are a combined 30-0. That strength of schedule is one of the most impressive in the state. For the Bears, you just have to hope that it hasn’t worn them down too much for a playoff run and a potential early round rematch against Buchholz.

7. (7) Riverside (7-2, Class 2M)

Last week: d. Sandalwood, 37-7.

This week: Off.

Notable: The Generals are comfortable right now because they’ve already wrapped up a district title and don’t have to pull for help or scoreboard watch the next two weeks. The only question now is where they’ll land in the seeding landscape in Region 1-2M.

8. (10) Bolles (4-4, Class 2M)

Last week: Off.

This week: vs. Bishop Kenny (5-3), Thursday, 7:30 p.m.

Notable: The Bulldogs have had this date circled for a year. They can win (or lose) the District 2-2M title against Kenny. They lost it last year in a 14-13 upset, the first lost to the Crusaders since 1977.

9. (9) Trinity Christian (5-3, Class 1M)

Last week: Off.

This week: at Providence (7-1).

Notable: The District 1-1M title is on the line this week. The Conquerors, on paper, should win here. But they’ve been just inconsistent enough at times on offense to think this could be a game. Trinity could potentially land a No. 1 seed in Region 1-1M if it wins out and gets an Orlando Christian Prep loss, too.

10. (10) Creekside (4-4, Class 4S)

Last week: d. Fleming Island, 49-48.

This week: at Atlantic Coast (4-4), Thursday, 6:30 p.m.

Notable: Excellent mettle shown last week by the Knights, who can’t afford a slip and still feel good about reaching the playoffs. They control their postseason destiny. Win out and they’re in. If they lose here, the chances get slimmer.
