Rank, school, record, classification

1. (1) Ponte Vedra (8-0-1, Class 6A)

Notable wins: Beachside, Bishop Kenny, Bishop Moore, Fletcher, Gulf Breeze, Tocoi Creek.

Glance: The Sharks beat Fleming Island (4-0) and Tocoi Creek (6-0) since our last Super 6. They have Edgewood (Friday) and then visit No. 2 Bartram Trail (Tuesday) on deck next. That Bartram-Ponte Vedra rivalry stretches back years, with Sharks coach Dave Silverberg and Bartram’s Jennifer West coaching in some epic showdowns against one another.

2. (2) Bartram Trail (8-2-1, Class 7A)

Notable wins: Daytona Beach Seabreeze, Lakeland Christian, Navarre, P.K. Yonge, Tocoi Creek.

Glance: Excellent stretch since our last Super 6, including a split in the Women’s Invitational Showcase Tournament at Montverde. Bartram beat defending Class 2A state champ Lakeland Christian (2-0) and then dropped a 2-1 match against host Montverde. They returned with a win over P.K. Yonge (5-1) and powerhouse St. Johns Country Day (1-0). Unbeaten Edgewood (Saturday) and No. 1 Ponte Vedra (Tuesday) are up next. Brooke Gosse (8 goals) and Carolyn Johnson (8 assists, 5 goals) lead Bartram. And an excellent side note on Bartram and St. Johns raising $7,400 to help in the fight against pediatric cancer.

3. (3) St. Johns Country Day (5-2-3, Class 2A)

Notable wins: Atlantic Coast, Doral Academy, Episcopal, P.K. Yonge, Plantation American Heritage.

Glance: A 2-0 showing in the WIST at Montverde included a 3-1 win over Doral and a 2-1 win over American Heritage. They returned home with a tough 1-0 loss to No. 2 Bartram. The Spartans go on the road for a Friday game at unbeaten South Walton and a Saturday tilt at an 8-1-2 Niceville. Sydney Schmidt (6 goals, 3 assists) leads the Spartans. And, as mentioned above, what a commendable job by both St. Johns and Bartram Trail as they teamed up to raise funds and awareness to help battle pediatric cancer.

4. (4) Creekside (6-0-1, Class 7A)

Notable wins: Beachside, Oakleaf, Providence, Stanton.

Glance: Defense has been a brick wall for coach Joe Soto’s Knights. Creekside has allowed all of one goal this season (in a 4-1 win over Stanton). Chloe Iliff has led the offense, which is averaging nearly five goals a game. She’s also got six assists. Alanna Maki (5 goals) followed for an excellent Creekside squad. Tocoi Creek (Thursday), Fleming Island (Dec. 18) and Atlantic Coast (Dec. 19) are up next.

5. (5) Nease (7-0-2, Class 6A)

Notable wins: Mandarin, Oakleaf, Sandalwood.

Glance: Just one game since our last Super 6, a 2-1 win over Sandalwood. Three games on the road, Middleburg (Thursday), Beachside (Tuesday) and Fletcher (Dec. 21) are up next for Nease.

6. (6) Atlantic Coast (7-1-1, Class 7A)
