JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A Sunday night football loss for the Jaguars got even worse as quarterback Trevor Lawrence underwent a test for a head injury and went into the concussion protocol after the game.
Jacksonville was walloped 23-7 by the Ravens in its first appearance on “Sunday Night Football” since 2008. Coach Doug Pederson said after the game that Lawrence was checked out after the game and would be entering the concussion protocol program.

Pederson wasn’t sure on exactly what play that Lawrence was injured on, but thought it could have been on a scramble where Lawrence ripped off a run in the middle of the field and took a big hit at the end of it on a tackle by Odafe Oweh with five minutes left. Lawrence was in for 10 plays after that hit. He didn’t go to the medical tent at that point or any other during the game that would have revealed a problem.
“I think so. I’m not 100% [sure], but I think so, yeah,” he said.
Lawrence had two lost fumbles and struggled in another disappointing performance for Jacksonville (8-6) as it lost its third straight game. The Jaguars are tied with the Texans and Colts for the top spot in the AFC South.
Lawrence will be unable to practice or play until he clears the NFL’s concussion protocol program. Cornerback Tre Herndon was the team’s last player to enter the protocol. He missed a loss to Cleveland last week and returned for Sunday’s game.
