1. (1) Mandarin (10-0-2, Class 7A)
Notable wins: Bartram Trail, Chiles, Creekside, Mandarin, Stanton, Wolfson.
Glance: The Mustangs went 1-0-1 since our last Super 6. They edged Englewood and star Zion Wise, 2-1. Then, they turned in a scoreless draw against Bishop Kenny on Thursday night to head into the new year unbeaten. Daniel Moreno and Alias Goldsberry are the Mandarin headliners as the area’s best team is still standing tall.
2. (2) Creekside (11-2-1, Class 7A)
Notable wins: Beachside, Bishop Kenny, Englewood, Fleming Island, Nease, Spruce Creek, Sandalwood, Tocoi Creek.
Glance: Quality week for the Knights. They edged previous No. 4 Beachside (2-1) and then followed up with a 1-0 win over Nease. Spruce Creek on Dec. 28 is up next for Creekside.
3. (3) Bartram Trail (5-1-2, Class 7A)
Notable wins: Fleming Island, St. Augustine.
Glance: Only two matches since our last Super 6, a 4-0 win over Tocoi Creek and a 7-1 rout of St. Augustine. Bartram’s only loss is to No. 1 Mandarin. The Bears are back in action Jan. 9 against Menendez.
4. (5) Sandalwood (7-1-5, Class 7A)
Notable wins: Bishop Kenny, Duval Charter, Englewood.
Glance: A romp for the Saints since our last Super 6, an 8-0 pasting of Global Outreach. Not too much of a challenge for the Saints, who are off until the new year.
5. (6) Fleming Island (9-3-1, Class 6A)
Notable wins: Atlantic Coast, Bolles, Chiles, Nease.
Glance: The Golden Eagles played just once since our last Super 6 and it was a scoreless tie against an unbeaten Gainesville Buchholz.
6. (NR) Stanton (8-3-1, Class 4A)
Notable wins: Bolles, Clay, Episcopal, Wolfson.
Glance: The Blue Devils have won five straight. They’ve also got a 1-0 win over Bolles, which gives Stanton the edge over the Bulldogs in the Super 6 this week. Stanton will be in the Gateway Conference title conversation, along with No. 1 Mandarin and a very good Englewood.
