1. (1) Mandarin (10-0-2, Class 7A)
Notable wins: Bartram Trail, Chiles, Creekside, Mandarin, Stanton, Wolfson.
Glance: The Mustangs have been off since our last Super 6, so no change in the top spot. Mandarin has outscored teams a combined 54-6 this year Daniel Moreno and Alias Goldsberry are the Mandarin headliners as the area’s best team surges into the Gateway Conference tournament as the heavy favorite.
2. (2) Creekside (13-4-1, Class 7A)
Notable wins: Beachside, Bishop Kenny, Englewood, Fleming Island, Mainland, Nease, Spruce Creek (twice), Sandalwood, Tocoi Creek.
Glance: The Knights were actually pretty busy over the holiday break, beating Spruce Creek and Mainland in quality Ws, and then losing to a 13-2 Bishop Moore (2-1) and to a 14-1-1 New Smyrna Beach (3-2). They’re back in action next week with home games against St. Augustine (Wednesday) and Bartram Trail (Friday). Cameron Mueller is leading the Knights with 11 goals.
3. (3) Bartram Trail (6-1-2, Class 7A)
Notable wins: Fleming Island, St. Augustine.
Glance: Nothing on the schedule for the Bears since the holiday break. They return to action on Friday at No. 2 and rival Creekside. Bartram’s only loss is to No. 1 Mandarin.
4. (4) Sandalwood (7-1-5, Class 7A)
Notable wins: Bishop Kenny, Duval Charter, Englewood.
Glance: Sandalwood has been off since Dec. 19, but returns to action Monday against Baldwin as the Gateway tournament kicks off. The Saints’ loss is to No. 2 Creekside.
5. (5) Fleming Island (9-3-1, Class 6A)
Notable wins: Atlantic Coast, Bolles, Chiles, Nease.
Glance: The Golden Eagles have been off since a scoreless game against Buchholz on Dec. 20. They return ot action with a Wednesday-Thursday doubleheader against Oakleaf and Ponte Vedra, respectively.
6. (6) Stanton (8-3-1, Class 4A)
Notable wins: Bolles, Clay, Episcopal, Wolfson.
Glance: The Blue Devils have a five-game winning streak entering the Gateway Conference tournament, which could put them on a collision with No. 1 Mandarin.
