News4JAX Super 6 boys basketball: Ribault moves back into rankings as Gateway tourney awaits

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The News4JAX Super 6 boys high school basketball rankings will be published each Wednesday — except during Christmas week — through the regular season. Records are through Jan. 16.

1. (1) Jackson (16-3, Class 4A)

Notable wins: Camden County, Creekside, Gainesville, Gibbs, Godby, Mainland, Nease, Raines, Ribault, Riverside, Sandalwood, Savannah, Santa Fe Catholic, San Jose Prep.

Glance: The Tigers are cruising. They’ve won 11 straight, including three quality Ws since our last Super 6. They beat Nease (50-42), Savannah (66-59 in OT) and a 14-4 Camden County (66-45). The Gateway Conference tournament is next for Jackson.

2. (2) Providence (13-5, Class 3A)

Notable win: Episcopal, Mater Lakes Academy, Lake Highland Prep, Oakleaf, Paxon, Riverside, Rockledge, Shabach Christian Academy (Maryland), Villages Charter, Windermere.

Glance: The Stallions are riding a four-game winning streak. They beat Riverside (75-52) and Bishop Snyder (76-48) since our last Super 6. Up next is NFEI on Thursday and Archbishop McCarthy on Saturday. Chris Arias (14.2 ppg), Caleb McAbee (12 ppg) and Brady Patterson (11.1 ppg) lead the Stallions.

3. (3) Episcopal (14-2, Class 3A)

Notable wins: Bolles, Father Lopez, Fletcher, Gateway, Impact Christian, Lowndes (Ga.), NFEI, South Point (NC), Munroe, Tocoi Creek.

Glance: The Eagles beat Tocoi Creek 50-44 in OT in the lone game since our last Super 6. They’ve got Bishop Kenny on Thursday to round out the week.

4. (4) Raines (15-5, Class 4A)

Notable wins: Auburn (Virginia), Fernandina Beach, First Coast (twice), Godby, Mandarin, Providence, Ribault.

Glance: A 1-1 mark since our last Super 6 for the Vikings. They beat Camden County in OT (62-60) and lost to a very good Palm Beach Lakes team (55-41). They’ve got White up on Friday before the Gateway Conference tournament next week.

5. (5) Paxon (15-2, Class 4A)

Notable wins: Beachside, Keenan (SC), Nease, Orange Park, Ponte Vedra, Ribault, Savannah, Stanton, Toombs County (Georgia).

Glance: The Golden Eagles stretched their winning streak to seven with wins over Bishop Snyder (47-37) and Orange Park (68-47) since our last Super 6. They’ve got Harvest Community on Friday before next week’s Gateway Conference tournament.

6. (NR) Ribault (12-5, Class 4A)

Notable wins: Bolles, Columbia, First Coast, Jackson, Riverside, San Jose Prep, Southwest

Glance: The Trojans return to the Super 6 after a week out, thanks to Oakleaf’s loss to University Christian. Ribault has First Coast on Wednesday, Mandarin on Friday and Martin County on Saturday. Then, it’s on to the Gateway Conference tournament next week. Caleb Williams (23.2 ppg) continues to light teams up.
