Girls soccer playoffs ‘24: Bartram, Creekside, Ponte Vedra among first-round winners

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The girls soccer heavyweights are off and running.

Bartram Trail, Creekside, Ponte Vedra and Nease, familiar faces in the Super 6 all season, opened their playoff road with wins on Tuesday night.

The Bears scored three second-half goals to beat Lake Brantley in Region 1-7A. Carolyn Johnson scored a goal 29 minutes in, with Ali Fletcher, Delaney McLean and Kennedy Pidcock finding the net in the second half. The Bears, reigning state champs, will host Hagerty on Friday. Also in 1-7A, Creekside beat Winter Park 4-1. The Knights will host unbeaten Lake Mary on Friday.

In 1-6A, the area’s top team, Ponte Vedra, edged reigning state champ Gulf Breeze 2-0 in a massive showdown. In the same region, Nease went on the road and clipped Navarre 2-1.

Teams in Class 2A to 4A opened the playoffs last week.
