JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The rivalry showdowns in the girls soccer playoffs will determine which teams are headed to the state semifinals.
Bartram Trail and Creekside handled business in Region 1-7A on Friday night to set up a heavyweight showdown Wednesday night for a spot in the state final four. And rivals Nease and Ponte Vedra will play for a state semifinal spot after winning their second-round games Friday. After a scoreless game and two overtime periods, Nease beat second-seeded Niceville 5-4 in penalty kicks. The Panthers get a shot at top-ranked Ponte Vedra, a 5-0 winner over Chiles. The Sharks have been No. 1 in the Super 6 much of the season.

Bartram handed previously unbeaten Hagerty 2-0 and Creekside handed Lake Mary its first loss with a 3-2 win. The Bears handed the Knights their lone loss of the season with a double OT win over Creekside in the district tournament. Those teams have combined to win the last four Class 7A state championships. Also moving on is Clay, which edged Beachside 4-3 in Region 1-5A.
