JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The area has six girls basketball teams still standing tall in the high school basketball state playoffs.
Bishop Kenny ended Ribault’s season for the third time in the past four seasons with a 43-33 win over the Trojans. Clare Coyle had 21 points and Kenny, the area’s top team in the Super 6 the bulk of the season, erased a 19-17 halftime deficit to surge past Ribault in the second half. Kenny (25-5) will host Panama City Rutherford in Thursday night’s Region 1-5A final for a spot in the state final four. Rutherford ended Bolles’ season 51-39.

Top-seeded Providence, the only other area team this year to be atop the Super 6, handled Gainesville P.K. Yonge 77-62 to move in the Region 1-3A final. The Stallions will host San Jose Prep in the Thursday regional final ensuring that one area team in that region will make the state semis. The Storm beat Trinity Catholis 54-51. Another all-local regional final will happen in 1-2A where both North Florida Educational and University Christian coasted to blowout wins over Oak Hall and St. Joseph.
In Region 1-6A, host Ponte Vedra beat Lincoln 54-42 to move on to Thursday’s regional final at Niceville.
