Boys soccer playoffs ‘24: West Orange surges back to stun Mandarin in OT

The high school boys soccer playoffs continued on Tuesday night. (News4JAX)

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Mandarin boys soccer team bowed out of the state playoffs just one win away from the state semifinals.

The Mustangs, the last area squad standing, saw a two-goal lead evaporate in an eventual 3-2 overtime loss to West Orange in the Region 1-7A final on a chilly Wednesday night. Mandarin (19-1-2) led 2-0 with less than 20 minutes to play before West Orange closed with a fury. The loss ends the season for area teams. Only St. Joseph, which played in the Class 2A state semifinals this week, managed to make it past the regional round.
