JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The new NFL league year is here and the Jaguars made a bevy of signings official, but lost out on their biggest priority.
The 4 p.m. opening to the new year launched a flurry of reported signings that could officially become finalized. But the time came and went for the expected re-signing of receiver Calvin Ridley, who gave Duval County a dagger when he signed with the loathed Titans.

Jacksonville’s free agency haul from the legal tampering period included cornerback Ronald Darby, receiver Gabe Davis, kickoff returner/receiver Devin Duvernay, center Mitch Morse and safety Darnell Savage. The Jaguars also agreed to a trade with the Patriots for quarterback Mac Jones, sending a sixth-round pick to New England to acquire the former first-round pick.
The team also re-signed offensive linemen Blake Hance and Ezra Cleveland, linebacker Caleb Johnson and running back D’Ernest Johnson and safety Daniel Thomas. All five starting offensive linemen from last season return, too. The team restructured right guard Brandon Scherff’s deal to get a bit of salary cap relief.
