1. (1) Fleming Island (6-0, Class 2A)
Notable wins: Middleburg, New Smyrna Beach, Ocala Forest, Paxon, Stanton.
Glance: The Golden Eagles answered another area challenger with an open and shut 28-12 win over No. 2 Paxon. They’re off until after Spring Break and return with a March 21 game against Oakleaf. London Jenkins has eight total offensive touchdowns and has a team-best five interceptions. No one locally is catching Fleming Island this season.
2. (2) Paxon (7-1, Class 1A)
Notable wins: Raines, Stanton.
Glance: Paxon walloped previously unbeaten Raines (27-7) and lost to No. 1 Fleming Island (28-12). No issue with that loss. Paxon has faced a more difficult schedule this year than last and has looked like the No. 2 team in the area. Up next is a solid Fletcher on Thursday before Spring Break.
3. (3) Middleburg (4-1, Class 1A)
Notable wins: Florida Deaf, White.
Glance: A 19-6 win over Baker County in their lone game since our last Super 6. Ridgeview, Clay and Oakleaf are up next over the next two weeks for the Broncos as they try and solidify their No. 2 spot in the county behind Fleming Island.
4. (4) Stanton (4-2, Class 1A)
Notable wins: Fletcher, Yulee.
Glance: The Blue Devils beat Bartram Trail 12-6 in their lone game since our last Super 6. They’re back in action Wednesday night against an Atlantic Coast team that is on the cusp of the rankings.
5. (5) Menendez (6-0, Class 1A)
Notable wins: Flagler Palm Coast, Florida Deaf, Palatka
Glance: The Falcons have been off since a 30-7 win over Bartram Trail on March 7. They’ll also face Bartram next week when they return from Spring Break.
T6. (T6) Bradford (3-1, Class 1A)
Notable wins: None.
Glance: The Tornadoes haven’t played since March 4, but they’re back in action Tuesday against Santa Fe.
T6. (T6) White (7-1, Class 1A)
Notable wins: Fletcher, Sandalwood.
Glance: A 6-0 win over Baldwin and a 7-6 win over Fletcher since our last Super 6, They have an 8-1 Fort Pierce Central up next on Thursday before No. 1 Fleming Island (March 25).
