1. (1) Fleming Island (6-0, Class 2A)
Notable wins: Middleburg, New Smyrna Beach, Ocala Forest, Paxon, Stanton.
Glance: The Golden Eagles have been off for Spring Break since win over previous No. 2 Paxon on March 7. They’re back in action with a Thursday-Friday doubleheader against Oakleaf and Bartram Trail.
2. (3) Middleburg (5-1, Class 1A)
Notable wins: Florida Deaf, White.
Glance: The Broncos have won five straight games, including a 12-0 victory over Ridgeview since our last Super 6. Their only loss was in their opener, a 13-0 setback to No. 1 Fleming Island. They’ve got unbeaten Clay up next on Thursday night.
3. (4) Stanton (5-2, Class 1A)
Notable wins: Atlantic Coast, Fletcher, Yulee.
Glance: The Blue Devils handled a quality Atlantic Coast team 32-20 since our last Super 6. They’re off until Monday when they face Parker.
4. (2) Paxon (7-2, Class 1A)
Notable wins: Raines, Stanton.
Glance: Paxon took it on the chin in its lone game since our last Super 6, a 27-0 rout by Fletcher. That was a bit of a surprise to me after playing No. 1 Fleming Island tough and then belting Wolfson and Raines in back-to-back games by a combined score of 53-7.
5. (5) Menendez (6-0, Class 1A)
Notable wins: Flagler Palm Coast, Florida Deaf, Palatka
Glance: The Falcons last played on March 6 in a win over Bartram Trail. They’re back in action on Wednesday night also against Bartram.
T6. (NR) Fletcher (5-2, Class 2A)
Notable win: Paxon.
Glance: The Senators edge out Bradford this week after clocking previous No. 2 Paxon 27-0. That’s Fletcher’s lone win over significance but it was a big one. I moved the Tornadoes out simply because of activity. They’ve played only four games this season. Fletcher’s losses are to White (7-6) and Stanton (12-7).
T6. (T6) White (7-2, Class 1A)
Notable wins: Fletcher, Sandalwood.
Glance: The Commanders played once since our last Super 6, a 19-6 loss to a quality 10-1 Fort Pierce Central. No shame in losing to a solid opponent. White’s other loss was to No. 2 Middleburg, 13-6.
Dropped out
Bradford (3-1, Class 1A).
