JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The spotlight on high school lacrosse is back with the fourth edition of the Rivalry on the River event at Bolles.
Saturday games will be streamed live on News4JAX.com and News4JAX+.
The two-day showcase features 11 boys teams and eight girls squads.
Competition begins at noon on Friday with host Bolles facing Beachside. It wraps up that night with an 8 p.m. clash between Ponte Vedra and last year’s Class 1A state semifinalist Lake Highland Prep. The Highlanders are the No. 7 team in the country, according to MaxPreps.
On Saturday, a clash between elite girls programs in Bartram Trail, a two-time defending state champion and Ponte Vedra, a 1A state semifinalist a year ago, lead things off at 10 a.m. The Bears, ranked No. 2 in the News4JAX Super 6, have an area-high three state championships.
Host Bolles (14-0), the 1A state runner-up last year under coach Tom West, faces Lucy Beckham (4-4) at 8 p.m. Bolles won that clash last year (11-9), but the Bengals didn’t lose again in storming to the Class 4A state championship in South Carolina. Bolles, the top team in the News4JAX Super 6, is ranked No. 2 in the country by MaxPreps. The third-ranked team (Lake Mary) is also in the event. Super 6 rankings are shown below in parentheses.
