JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The News4JAX Super 6 high school softball rankings will be published Thursday’s during the regular season. Records are through March 27.

Rank, previous, team, record, classification

1. (1) Baldwin (12-0, Class 3A)

Notable wins: Baker County, Mandarin, Middleburg, Paxon.

Glance: The Indians mashed Bishop Snyder and Sandalwood by a combined score of 27-0 since our last Super 6. Shaylen Byrd fired a four-inning no-hitter against the Saints with 11 Ks. She was just one walk away from a perfect game. Lily Hubbard and Hayden Peebles combined on a five-inning one-hitter in walloping the Saints. Baldwin is up to 30 consecutive innings without allowing a run. Kendall North (.514, 3 HR) is powering Baldwin. Amiyah Jones (.415), Madison Crews (.389) and Cali Hartung (.378, 2 HR, 20 RBI) follow. Cool experience for Jazmine Ramos-Merced, who is playing with Team Puerto Rico in the U18 Pan Am women’s championships in Monteria, Colombia. She’s hitting .324 with three homers and 16 RBI for the Indians.

2. (2) Episcopal (12-1, Class 3A)

Notable wins: Fernandina Beach, Fletcher, Glenwood (Alabama), Oakleaf, Ponte Vedra, Providence, West Nassau, West Orange.

Glance: Two quality Ws since our last Super 6 for the Eagles. They blasted Glenwood 15-0 behind a nine-K, one-hitter from pitcher Grace Jones. She remains on the short list for the area’s top player. Jones leads the Eagles in the circle and at the plate (.568, 4 HR, 9 RBI). They’ve got Bolles up next on Thursday.

3. (3) Middleburg (11-1, Class 5A)

Notable wins: Baker County, Mandarin, Nease, Paxon, West Nassau.

Glance: The Broncos are rolling. They beat Clay (14-3) and Mandarin (6-0) since our last Super 6. Up next are Columbia (Thursday), Creekside (April 4) and Providence (April 5). Alyssa Prather (.579, 19 RBI, 4 HR), Kaelyn Hagan (.526, 16 RBI, 2 HR) and the big bat of Kerra Clarida (.486, 21 RBI, 7 HR) are leading the Broncos. Pitchers Morgan Beckham and Lily Bennett have combined to whiff 116 for Middleburg.

4. (4) Creekside (12-1, Class 7A)

Notable wins: Bartram Trail, Fleming Island, Merritt Island, Nease, Ponte Vedra, Trinity Catholic.

Glance: The Knights lost their first game of the season since our last Super 6, a 5-4 setback to a 12-2 Jenkins High. They beat Merritt Island (7-1) and Fleming Island (4-2), too. Not a bad week at all for the Knights. The second half of the season schedule jumps up considerably in competition, starting Thursday against Oakleaf. Bella Campbell (.463, 15 RBI) and Kaylee Martineau (.462, 14 RBI) lead the Creekside regulars at the plate. Freshman Hailey Cunningham (.500) has been a big contributor in her 30 plate appearances. Martineau has 61 Ks in 57.2 IP to lead Creekside in the circle.

5. (6) Oakleaf (9-4, Class 6A)

Notable wins: Fleming Island, Keystone Heights (twice), Ponte Vedra, University Christian

Glance: The Knights stayed on their hot streak, stretching their winning streak to five games with wins over Tocoi Creek (9-3) and Keystone Heights (13-6). They’ve got Creekside on deck Thursday night before competing in the Kissimmee Klassic next week. Charley Maddox (.524) boosted her average nearly 70 percentage points since last week and is 5-2 in the pitcher’s circle. Jaydyn Beall (.472), Amya Mirelez (.359, 16 RBI) and Meshayla Pettaway (.354, 11 RBI) are also leading the Knights.

6. (5) University Christian (9-3, Class 2A)

Notable wins: Bolles, Flagler Palm Coast, Fort White. Trinity Catholic, Westminster Academy.

Glance: The reigning Class 2A state champs went 2-1 since our last Super 6, with two high quality wins (14-3 over Trinity Catholic and 10-2 over Westminster Academy). They lost 2-0 to Baker County. DOC. Sophia Kardatzke (.655, 2 HR, 18 RBI) remains a machine for UC. Kardatzke has nine extra-base hits among her 19 hits. In the circle, she’s whiffed 109 in 62.2 IP.
