JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The News4JAX Super 6 high school softball rankings will be published Thursday’s during the regular season. Records are through April 10.

Rank, previous, team, record, classification

1. (1) Baldwin (17-0, Class 3A)

Notable wins: Baker County, Mandarin, Middleburg, Paxon, University Christian.

Glance: The Indians are on a tear. They beat reigning Class 2A state champ University Christian (9-6) and then blasted both Sandalwood (17-0) and Atlantic Coast (18-0) in combined no-hitters in the Gateway Conference tournament. Shaylen Byrd and Lily Hubbard combined on the no-no against the Saints, and teamed with Hayden Peebles to no-no the Stingrays. Kendall North (.521, 3 HR, 21 RBI), Amiyah Jones (.472, 21 RBI), Cali Hartung (.426, 6 HR, 33 RBI) and Raven Watson (.419, 16 RBI) headline the area’s top offense. They’ve got Paxon up next in the conference semis.

2. (2) Episcopal (17-1, Class 3A)

Notable wins: Baker County, Fernandina Beach, Fletcher, Glenwood (Alabama), Nease, Oakleaf, Paxon, Ponte Vedra, Providence, West Nassau, West Orange.

Glance: The Eagles have won 13 straight games. They used extra innings to beat Paxon (3-2) and Nease (1-0), then handled Ridgeview (5-1) since our last Super 6. Grace Jones is so good for Episcopal. She’s hitting .560 (5 HR, 12 RBI) and has whiffed 220 in 112.1 innings. A strong Yulee team is up next on Friday.

3. (3) Middleburg (15-2, Class 5A)

Notable wins: Baker County, Branford, Creekside, Mandarin, Nease, Paxon, West Nassau.

Glance: The Broncos went 2-1 since our last Super 6, quality Ws over Branford (16-5) and Providence (13-2), and a surprising 10-1 loss to University Christian. Oakleaf on Thursday is the final game of the week. Alyssa Prather (.558, 23 RBI, 6 HR), Kerra Clarida (.500, 31 RBI, 10 HR) and Kaelyn Hagan (.473, 24 RBI, 5 HR) are the monster bats for the Broncos.

4. (4) Oakleaf (12-5, Class 6A)

Notable wins: Creekside, Fleming Island, Jensen Beach, Keystone Heights (twice), Ponte Vedra, University Christian.

Glance: The Knights saw their six-game winning streak end at the Kissimmee Klassic with a 9-3 setback to a 21-0 Melbourne and a 4-0 loss to an 11-1 Doral Academy. They beat Bartram Trail (17-3), Dwyer (5-1) and Jensen Beach (3-0) since our last rankings. Charley Maddox (.459), Meshayla Pettaway (.419, 15 RBI), Ava Tolbert (.415) and Jaydyn Beall (.407) lead the Knights at the plate. Maddox also leads the pitching staff (8-2, 1.44 ERA, 63 Ks).

5. (5) Creekside (14-3, Class 7A)

Notable wins: Bartram Trail, Fleming Island, Mandarin, Merritt Island, Nease, Ponte Vedra, Providence, Trinity Catholic.

Glance: The Knights went 1-1 since our last Super 6, beating Providence (7-0) and losing to previous No. 3 Middleburg (3-1). Bartram Trail and Columbia round out the week for the Knights. Kaylee Martineau (.396, 14 RBI), Hailey Cunningham (.389) and Bella Campbell (.389, 16 RBI) are leading the Knights.

6. (NR) West Nassau (9-6, Class 4A)

Notable wins: Baker County (twice), Fernandina Beach, Hilliard, Oakleaf, University Christian.

Glance: The Warriors have been up and down this season. They went 3-2 since our last Super 6, including a 15-5 drubbing of previous No. 6 Baker County. Their losses this year are high quality Ls that have been to a 14-3 Viera, a 13-5 Sumner, Episcopal (17-1), Melbourne (21-0), Paxon (11-5) and Middleburg (15-2). Games against Ridgeview and Hilliard round out the week. The Warriors get the nod this week ahead of UC.
