The logo in 2013 was the idea of owner Shad Khan, who purchased the team in late 2011 from Wayne Weaver. Jacksonville’s initial logo from its quest to get an NFL franchise was similar to the Jaguars logo of the famous car manufacturer. It sued the team for trademark infringement and forced the Jaguars to change their initial logo.
The Jaguars have already announced that they will wear a throwback jersey this season with their original 1995 logo on it.
The NFL awarded Jacksonville the 30th franchise on Nov. 30, 1993. The first regular season game was Sept. 3, 1995.
