JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Baker County, Baldwin and University Christian are bound for the softball state semifinals.
The Super 6 No. 1 Indians beat rival Episcopal in the Region 1-3A final on Friday night, using a three-run first inning to top the Eagles 4-1. Jasmine Ramos-Merced belted a homer and Riley Page and Amiyah Jones tacked on two hits each for Baldwin (29-1). The Indians will face Calvary Christian in the state semifinals on Tuesday at 5 p.m. at Legends Way Ballfields in Clermont. Shaylen Byrd whiffed nine for Baldwin, which bounced Episcopal in the regional final for the second straight season.

In Region 1-4A, Baker County went on the road to knock off top-seeded Wakulla 6-2. The Wildcats (20-5) will face Plantation American Heritage on Wednesday at 1 p.m. in the state semifinals. Kentlee Payne and Mallory Jackson had two hits for the Wildcats. Haley Marker went 3 for 4 and knocked in a run and Baleigh Shields had two RBI for Baker County. The Wildcats won the 2015 state championship with a 1-0 win over American Heritage, an eight-time state champion.
In Region 1-2A, Sophia Kardatzke whiffed 10 in a one-hitter and defending state champ University Christian beat Providence 12-2 in six innings to advance to the state semifinals. Lydia Smith had three hits, Jaleigha Harris homered and Mila Lackowski added three RBI for UC (18-7). The Christians face John Carroll Catholic on Tuesday at 1 p.m.
