One disastrous inning for the Trinity Christian baseball team spoiled the Conquerors’ return to the state semifinals.

Miami Westminster Christian pushed five runs across in the bottom of the sixth inning to beat Trinity 6-4 in the Class 3A semis in Fort Myers. It was a bitter finish to the season for the Conquerors (24-7), who were cruising along towards a date in their first title game since 2015.

Then came the sixth inning. Westminster batted around in the inning and turned a 4-1 deficit into a 6-4 lead. The Conquerors got a runner on in the top of the seventh but Westminster sealed it on a game-ending double play to reach Wednesday’s championship game.

Brady Harris hit a solo homer in the first inning, his third jack in four playoff games. Gage Petrutz and Aiden Arnett added two hits apiece for the Conquerors.
